Cervical Necrotizing Fasciitis Caused by Oral Cavity Infection: A Case Report Considering Therapeutic Approach and its Morphofunctional Implications

چکیده
Cervical necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rare complication of oral cavity infection with high morbi-mortality. Given its low prevalence, adequately reporting cases NF, therapeutic management, and associated morphofunctional modifications to the clinical scientific community pivotal. To that end, we herein describe case cervical NF in 60-year-old patient comorbidities presented large, painful swelling necrotic ulcer lesion anterior neck region. Intraoral examination indicated periodontal abscess right mandibular area, while computed tomography lesionâs extension from submandibular Following empirical intravenous antibiotic treatment, broad surgical debridement was performed, foci were removed. Debridement revealed communication between deep superficial anatomical regions where subsequently placed Penrose drain. Biopsies showing acute inflammatory infiltrate hemorrhagic confirmed diagnosis NF. When an antibiogram resistance scheme replaced adequate alternative. After second debridement, closed defect fascio-mucocutaneous advancement flaps lateral base maintaining suction drainage. Having reacted positively, discharged 10 days after operation. Despite extensive change generated treated showed no difficulties breathing, phonation, swallowing, or mobilizing area during control sessions. Altogether, this report contributes highly limited literature describing morphological aspects can facilitate delay spread disorders size depth interventions for information relevant comprehensive, long-term prognosis treatment

Cervical Necrotizing Fasciitis Caused by Dental Infection
Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is defined as rapidly progressive necrosis of subcutaneous fat and fascia. Although NF of the face is rare, its mortality rate is nearly 30%. It usually originates from dental infection and can lead to involvement of the neck, mediastinum, and chest wall. Complications resulting from pre-existing systemic diseases can increase the mortality rate. Known complication fa...

Necrotizing fasciitis is a severe soft tissue infection characterized by cutaneous necrosis, suppurative fasciitis, vascular thrombosis and extreme systemic toxicity. Involvement of head and neck structures is rare, but occur most frequently in patients with diabetes and chronic alcoholism. Once initiated, the disease progresses rapidly and diffusely, involving adjacent fascial spaces. Necrotiz...

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly progressive infectious disease of the soft tissue with high mortality and morbidity rates. Necrotizing fasciitis is occasionally located in the head and neck region and develops after odontogenic infections. Factors affecting treatment success rates are early diagnosis, appropriate antibiotic treatment, and surgical debridement. We present a necrotizing fascii...

Necrotizing fasciitis is characterized by a rapidly progressing necrosis of subcutaneous fat and fascia that rarely occurs in head and neck. It can be life threatening in the case of late diagnosis and antibiotic therapy and without surgical intervention. It is caused by group A streptococci or by a synergistic combination of aerobe and anaerobe microorganisms and bacterial synergy is an import...
